Last night I went to a service for a friend Comic Patrice O'Neal
it was a wonderful ceremony...one filled with love, respect and laughter...the church was filled with his family, friends and fans...the comics that came were from every level.. from the top stars in our business to comics just starting off..all there to pay homage to their comic hero.. the tributes were given by his close comic buddies..all of them relaying touching and hilirious stories of the good times..special moments shared to remind us of the gift that was lost..at times emotions got the best of the crowd..when his step daughter told stories of how Mr. P made her feel special..smart...and silly...it brought down the house..she seemed so sure of herself for a young women... a confidence she credits learning from Patrice..she said Mr. P made me feel powerful, like I could do anything...Patrice would have loved last night.. people simply there to give the Big Man some props..Patrice has left us with a piece of work that has changed comedy and will last forever..thank you for your honesty and friendship..
